The Hampton Inn in Oneonta was recognized Thursday with a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award, which is given only to the top 10 percent of establishments that are reviewed by customers on the TripAdvisor website.
To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.
“We are pleased that Hampton Inn Oneonta received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence,” said Phil Cordell, global head, focused service and Hampton brand management, Hilton Worldwide. “We strive to provide our guests with high-quality accommodations, delivered with friendly, authentic service ... and we’re thrilled to see that our hard work is translating into positive reviews on TripAdvisor.”
The main reason why the Oneonta hotel received such high marks from those who had stayed there?
“We always focus on our guests,” said Oneonta Hampton Inn General Manager Hope Halberg on Thursday. “We pay extra attention to their needs by making sure the quality of the room is high and certain things are done to make their stay a good experience.”
Sales Manager Ashley Camarata said one of the reasons why the Oneonta hotel was honored is its focus on the front-desk staff and making sure every stay is consistently excellent.
Halberg talked about one recent example of the staff of the hotel going the extra mile.
“We had a long-term guest who was a wine connoisseur,” she said, “and we went out and bought him two bottles of wine and provided a set of wine glasses that he could use while he was here.”
Another guest who was under the weather was the recipient of soup and ginger ale taken to his room, courtesy of the hotel.
“The Certificate of Excellence award provides top-performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most — their customers,” said Alison Copus, Vice President of Marketing for TripAdvisor for Business.
TripAdvisor-branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, according to the website, with more than 200 million unique monthly visitors and more than 100 million reviews and opinions.
