Taste of the Catskills to highlight local goods

DELHI — An annual fall festival will feature a focus on live music this year in addition to highlighting local beer and crafts.

This weekend’s Taste of the Catskills Festival, held annually at Maple Shade Farm in Delhi, will feature performances by popular, world-touring musical artists Hellbound Glory and Deadstring Brothers.

With a variety of vendors, including farmers, value-added food producers and

restaurants, the festival highlights the connections between farm and table. Maple Shade Farm, a family-run farm at 2066 County Highway 18 in Delhi, is the venue for the event. The Daily Star is among the sponsors of this year’s event.

The festival will feature two stages of live music, with Hellbound Glory and Deadstring Records as the headlining acts.

According to a media release, Hellbound Glory “has become a worldwide, alt-country sensation the old-fashioned way: touring relentlessly, astounding patrons with knock-out performances nightly, and releasing genre-defining, gritty, thoroughly-infectious material about hard living, hard times, and hard-hearted women.” The band has performed with artists such as David Allan Coe, the Reverend Horton Heat, Drive-By-Truckers, The Blasters, Hank III, Junior Brown, Dale Watson, Wayne Hancock, Jesse Dayton and Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats.

Deadstring Brothers was described by organizers as “one of the world’s hottest active country-rock-come-honky-tonk acts.” Fronted by  singer-songwriter Kurt Marschke, the band has released four albums since 2003, including the 2010 record, “Sao Paulo.” Two of the record’s singles, “Can’t Make it Through the Night” and “Adalee,” were featured on the FX TV series “Sons of Anarchy.” The band has been touring steadily since the 2004 release of their eponymous debut and have shared the stage with acts ranging from Shooter Jennings, Cat Power and Jesse Sykes to Giant Sand, My Morning Jacket, and Drive By Truckers.
