A Pitcher woman faces manslaughter charges in the death of an infant in her care, Chenango County deputies said Wednesday.
Geneia M. Rood, 38, of Baumann Road, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the Sept. 5 death of Brenna Quinn, who was 3 months old, deputies said in a media release.
Dr. James Terzian, a forensic pathologist in Binghamton, ruled Brenna's death a homicide after tests determined the infant had alcohol in her system, the release said.
Rood was arraigned in Chenango County Court before Judge Frank Revoir Jr. and sent to the county jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bash. She is to appear in Pitcher Town Court on Monday.
