A college student has been charged with felony possession of marijuana, Oneonta police said Wednesday.
The arrest resulted from an investigation into a recent large party on Chestnut Street, which led to arrests of two other men and the confiscation of 2 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $4,500, police said.
Davante Bolton, 20, of New York City was charged Wednesday with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, police said. He was arraigned in Oneonta City court and released on $750 bail, pending a later court appearance.
Bolton is a student at the State University College at Oneonta, police said.
Lt. Douglas Brenner said officers responded to a complaint Saturday about a loud party at 136 Chestnut St., where police found about 100 people gathered.
Joharry Ramirez, 20, of Brooklyn, and Jesse Aquino, 23, of the Bronx, were charged Saturday with criminal nuisance, a misdemeanor, and violation of the municipal noise ordinance, Brenner said.
The three men were housemates, police said, and Ramirez, also a SUNY Oneonta student, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
The criminal nuisance charges stem from having a party in unsafe conditions, which in this case included structural stress on the building, a partially blocked exit, low light conditions and electrical wires on the floor, which were slippery, Brenner said.
Traces of marijuana were in plain sight, Brenner said, and an investigation led to finding 2 pounds of marijuana in a plastic bag in Bolton’s bedroom.
