---- — A bail hearing for Michael Buck, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Monday in Otsego County Court, was not held after Buck and his attorney decided not to ask for bail at this time.
“We reserved our right to make an application in the future,” said Thomas Hegeman, Buck’s court-appointed attorney.
Hegeman’s practice is in Oneonta.
Buck is currently scheduled to appear in court Nov. 4.
Buck, 33, is accused of shooting his father, Joseph Buck, 64, in the early hours of Sept. 21 in the Middlefield house they shared. Michael Buck was shot in the right cheek during the incident, and police said two handguns were involved.
Buck is being charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault and first-degree criminal use of a firearm. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years to life in prison.
Another involved party interviewed by the police at Buck’s residence after the shooting took place has not yet been identified.
