ARKVILLE — “Lark in the Park,” a 10-day festival celebrating the Catskill region and promoting hiking and other activities, kicks off Saturday and will run through Oct. 14.
Now in its 10th year, the festival is coordinated by the Catskill Mountain Club, the Catskill Center and the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference, said Ann Roberti of Andes, a spokeswoman for the event.
More than 50 outdoor activities have been planned, including numerous group hikes, biking, paddling and fishing on the Schoharie Reservoir.
A full listing of the schedule for the festival can be found at its web site, www.catskillslark.org
New events include cycling on the Catskill Scenic Trail and a 40-mile tour of the central Catskills, new fire tower climbs, hikes on the new section of the Long Path and new Shavertown Trail, educational hikes to Grand Canyon House, the Frick Pond Trail, and a mushroom walk in the Esopus Bend Preserve.
