On Monday, dairy farmers from across Otsego, Delaware and Sullivan counties will convene at the Center for Agricultural Development & Entrepreneurship to discuss ways to increase the price they receive for milk.
According to a media release, the meeting is the next step in a project CADE undertook this past year to contact local dairy farmers and identify new markets for them in light of the local-food movement.
Since July, CADE has surveyed more than 100 farmers from Delaware, Sullivan and Otsego counties and met with local processors, haulers and feed companies. At Monday’s meeting, CADE will unveil its analysis of the data collected and solutions that will help dairy farmers negotiate a fair price.
The meeting will run from noon to 2 p.m. at the CADE office at 5 Elm St. A light lunch will be provided. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to email@example.com or 433-2545.
The project is supported by the Community Foundation of South Central New York.
