Relay for Life a 12-hour effort

Students from SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College will team up today for their annual Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Students will gather at Alumni Fieldhouse for the event that runs from 6 p.m. through 6 a.m. Saturday, a media release from the State University College at Oneonta said. Team members will take turns walking laps around the gym, and participants will be entertained with music, games, contests and other activities.

Relay for Life is organized by the Colleges Against Cancer student groups at the two colleges with support from SUNY Oneonta’s Center for Social Responsibility and Community. Last year, more than 1,200 students participated in the event, which raised $52,000.
