---- — Event to benefit jail ministry programs
More than 250 people are expected for tonight’s Jail Ministries of Otsego County fundraising dinner at the Oneonta Holiday Inn, program executive director the Rev. Ameen Aswad said. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. Dinner is donated by the Holiday Inn, with all proceeds supporting two ministry programs, he said.
The Gifts from the Heart Christmas outreach program provides presents to children from parents who are inmates in Otsego jail, as well as Otsego county inmates in state prison.
If there are enough funds, the ministry may also help children of inmates in surrounding counties whose names were provided by prison fellowship. Funds also go to the after-care program that provides assistance for recently released inmates who need help in getting adjusted.
WKTV news anchor Bill Worden is the keynote speaker.
