The Oneonta Common Council will have a public hearing tonight to amend the zoning code and also will consider actions pertaining to a proposed student apartment building and regarding a downtown development project.
The hearing on Ordinance No. 1 will be at the beginning of the 7 p.m. meeting in Common Council Chambers at City Hall.
The proposed amendment sets new subsections prohibiting grade-level dwelling units within 50 feet of the outer edge of the public right-of-way in the Downtown Mixed Use District, the meeting agenda said.
A motion pending before the council would authorize the mayor to sign an agreement with Newman Development Group, which proposes to build a student apartment complex on Blodgett Drive, to set the building permit fee at $28,000 and to establish an escrow account of $20,000 to by used by the planning board and city to retain legal and engineering services to independently review the project.
The council also will consider a resolution approving the sale of properties in the Bresee Rehabilitation Project from the Otsego County Development Corp. to Klugo Oneonta LLC.
Many changes in parking restrictions also are pending before the council.
