---- — Dr. Jordan Tannenbaum, who has been a pediatrician at A.O. Fox Hospital since 1982, will retire from his practice Feb. 24, the hospital has announced.

Tannenbaum was the only pediatric physician in the practice at the hospital when he arrived. Since then, the practice, now known as Child & Adolescent Health Care Associates at FoxCare, has grown to five physicians, a family nurse practitioner and a pediatric nurse practitioner, according to a media release from the hospital.

“Dr. Tannenbaum has not only provided great care for hundreds of children in the Oneonta region, he was a physician leader of the adoption of the electronic medical record (EMR) at Fox and has been a champion of improving patient care through the EMR,” said John Remillard, the hospital’s chief executive officer.

The doctor will become a physician executive with McKesson, the vendor Fox Hospital used for its extensive electronic medical record installation. He and his family, which includes wife Susan and seven children, will remain in Oneonta.

“I have reached a point in my career as a pediatrician where I am now caring for the children of parents I cared for as infants 30 years ago,” Tannenbaum said.

“It’s been tremendously rewarding to have been a part of these families growth, and I feel privileged to have been entrusted with their care. Now is a good time for me to retire and pursue a different career that combines medicine and another passion of mine — computers.”
