The four-county area is in a flash flood watch as of noon today, according to the National Weather Service at Binghamton.
The watch area includes a large portion of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania. All of Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties are within the watch area.
Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue this afternoon and evening. Storms could drop up to 2 inches of rain in less than an hour, the NWS predicts.
A flood watch means that conditions may develop that could lead to flooding. It is a less severe alert than a warning,
