---- — The annual meeting of the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Schoharie and Otsego Counties will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the banquet room at Brooks’ House of Bar-B-Q in Oneonta, according to a media release.
The annual meeting is open to the public. To make reservations, call the Cooperstown office at (607) 547-2536, extension 0 or the Cobleskill office at (518) 234-4303 by Monday.
The guest speaker will be Patrick Hooker, former commissioner of the state Department of Agriculture and Markets and current senior director of industry development for agriculture with Empire State Development. He will address the economic value of agricultural enterprises to the region and the extension’s role in aiding agricultural growth and survival in today’s economy.
The local extension offers a broad range of programming, according to the release. This included a series of six nutrition lessons presented to 185 people last year.
In addition, 245 4-H youths participated in programs made possible through the commitment of local volunteers with skills in such areas as woodworking, foreign language and robotics, as well as traditional gardening and livestock projects.
