---- — The Oneonta Theatre will close after its New Year's Eve show, its manager confirmed Tuesday.

The last show will be New Year’s Eve.

“We’ll have First Night Oneonta, and afterward we’ll be basically closed,” said Dan Skinner, the theater’s manager.

He referred all other questions to Tom Cormier, the venue’s owner.

Cormier, who bought the theater in June 2009 for $225,000 and undertook extensive renovations, declined to comment until later Tuesday.

He partnered with Jon Weiss, a New York City promoter, to book performing arts acts and films.

“The Oneonta Theatre is going to be a lot of fun,’’ Weiss said during a 2010 interview. “It’s the living room of the community.’’

Patrice Macaluso, president of the nonprofit Friends of the Oneonta Theater, which was bidding to take control of it before Cormier entered the picture, said Tuesday she had to talk to the group’s board of directors before commenting on the closing.

The theater was built in 1896 and is on the state and national registers of historic places. It hosted vaudeville shows in its early years and was a first-run movie theater before Cormier took over.
