Delaware deputies charge 7 in drug bust

---- — Seven residents have been arrested on felony drug charges in a continuing fight against drug trafficking, Delaware County deputies said Monday.

After narcotics investigations during the past five months by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, sealed indictment warrants were handed down by a grand jury Friday, a media release from deputies said. The investigations were conducted in conjunction with the Delaware County Probation Department, the Walton Village Police Department and Sidney Village Police Department.

Deputies arrested eight residents, including one on a misdemeanor charge, with assistance from Sidney police, Chenango County deputies and state police at Sidney and Stamford. The arrests involved sale of heroin and possession of controlled substances, the release said, and arrests and charges were:

• Miguel E. Santiago, 23, Stamford, two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling heroin in the village of Stamford.

• Gerard “Jerry” F. Johnson, 30, Walton, three counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, after allegedly selling heroin in the village of Walton on three this year with his children present. 

• Nancy M. Tomao, 45, Sidney, fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance after allegedly selling a prescription drug in the village of Sidney.

• Jordan R. King, 20, Unadilla, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling a prescription drug in the village of Franklin.

• Kim M. Chlad, 56, Sherburne, fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance involving a sale of a prescription drug in the village of Sidney.

• Sande A. Lower, 25, Oneonta, fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for allegedly selling a prescription drug in the town of Franklin.

• Mandi R. Stratton, 24, Walton, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedley selling heroin in the village of Walton with her child present.

Each defendant was arraigned before Delaware County Court Judge Carl F. Becker on Monday, and ordered held in jail without bail pending future court appearances.

Also, Jessica A. Woodcock, 26, Walton, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after allegedly allowing her children to be present during a sale of heroin. She was arraigned before Becker on Friday and released on recognizance pending further court action.

Investigations continue and more arrests are pending, deputies said.
