---- — A former Sidney man was arrested Wednesday for purchasing a bulldozer with a check written on a closed account, Otsego deputies said.
Willard Joseph Bruning, 35, of Hudson, Fla, was arrested on third-degree grand larceny, deputies said. He was extradited this week from Pasco County, Fla. Deputies said the charges came about because: In May, 2012, Bruning purchased a small bulldozer from a Pittsfield resident for $3,100 with the bad check. In August 2012, the resident contacted deputies after she was unable to get in touch with Bruning. Deputies obtained a warrant on the charged and tracked Bruning to a residence in Hudson, Florida.
They forwarded the information to Pasco County deputies who arrested him on June 7 as as a fugitive from justice on the warrant.
He was arraigned in Worcester Town Court and sent to Otsego county jail on on $20,000 bail, to appear at a later date in Pittsfield Town court. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
