Jared Boice, 35, of, Walton pleaded not guilty Thursday in Delaware County Court to all six charges growing out of the fatal shootings last winter of two Siberian Huskies that had wandered away from their home.
Accompanied by his lawyer, William Schebaum of Oneonta, Boice was released on his own recognizance.
He has been charged with two counts of felony criminal mischief, two misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and two misdemeanor counts of holding stolen property.
A trial has been scheduled for Oct. 29, officials said.
Boice, in an interview with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, had claimed he shot the dogs - named Kodah and Mush - because they were running deer, authorities have said.
The Huskies were owned by Carol Mahoney of Walton, and her daughter, Rebecca, a local college student.
