A Davenport man was arrested Monday on felony drug charges Monday as part of an ongoing investigation, Otsego deputies said.
Cody Leslie Carter Barnes, 28, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling heroin in the city of Oneonta.
In early Jan. 2014 a quantity of heroin was purchased from Barnes on two separate occasions in Oneonta, deputies said. The case was recently presented to the grand jury and a sealed indictment was issued. Barnes has been held on $25,000 bail since Jan. 31, when he was arrested along with others during the execution of a narcotics search warrant in the city of Oneonta.
On Monday, deputies arrested Barnes there on the sealed indictment warrant of arrest. He was arraigned in Otsego County Court and returned to jail on an additional $20,000 bail returnable on June 23, to continue his arraignment.
He faces up to 24 years in prison if convicted of these felonies because of a previous felony drug conviction, deputies said.
The arrest resulted from a narcotics investigation conducted by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, the Albany Drug Enforcement Administration District Office and the Oneonta Police Department Detective Bureau.
