‘Gasland II’ showing at brewery
Otsego 2000 and Brewery Ommegang will present a screening of the documentary “Gasland Part II,” a sequel to Josh Fox’s Academy Award-winning 2010 film “Gasland.”
The movie will be shown at 7 p.m. at the brewery’s Cafe Ommegang. Space is limited; to RSVP, email Ellen Pope at email@example.com with name and number of guests in the party.
According to a media release, the film, which premiered at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, “shows how the stakes have been raised on all sides in one of the most important environmental issues facing our nation today”; namely, horizontal hydraulic fracturing for natural gas.
Man accused of having stolen car
A Sharon Springs man was accused of possessing a car reported stolen more than three years ago, state police at Cobleskill said.
Joseph C. Najdek, 28, was charged July 8 with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, troopers said in a media release.
He was arrested after a month-long investigation involving a stolen 1991 Ford Mustang that originally was reported stolen to Suffolk County police in February 2010, troopers said.
Najdek was arraigned in Sharon Town Court and sent to Schoharie County jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond, the release said.
Summit man accused of rape
A Summit man has been accused of rape, state police at Cobleskill said.
Charles M. O’Kelly, 36, was charged July 7 with first-degree rape, a felony, and forcible touching, a misdemeanor, troopers said in a media release.
Kelly, who was arrested with the assistance of Cobleskill village police, was arraigned in Summit Town Court and sent Schoharie County jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond, troopers said.
Seven to face rioting charges
Seven males were charged with riot in connection with a complaint made at 2:30 a.m. April 30 in the town of Hancock, state police at Deposit said in a media report.
