Arrested on a charge of second-degree riot, a misdemeanor, between June 11 and July 10 were were Brandon A. Watson, 18, of East Branch; Tanner C. Austin, 18, of White Sulphur Springs; Dylan Tompkins, 16, Hamden; Ethan A. Meadow, 19, Liberty, Matthew Davies, 19, Youngsville, and Brian Clifford, 20, of Jeffersonville. Stephen Casciola, 18, of East Branch, was charged with second-degree riot and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.
Most defendants were issued tickets to appear in court at later dates.
Alcohol sting nets two arrests
Two store clerks were arrested during a state police Underage Drinker Initiative to curb sales of alcohol to minors.
On July 6, between 3 and 9 p.m., a detail checked convenience stores in Otsego County in the towns of Worcester, Milford and Hartwick and the villages of Cooperstown and Richfield Springs.
According to a Troop C media release, arrested on a charge of unlawfully selling alcohol to a person under 21 were Ajay N. Ghiaar, 31, of Cooperstown, who was working at The Pit Stop in Hartwick, and Victoria Oldick, 21, of Fort Plain, who was working at Stewart’s Shops at 170 Main St. in Richfield Springs.
Six other stores checked were in compliance, troopers said.
Pa. truck driver charged at checkpoint
A Pennsylvania man was arrested July 10 on several charges after attempting to avoid a state tractor trailer safety inspection check point, New Berlin police said.
Kevin M. Harrop, 27, of Exton, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to keep right and two transportation law violations, police said.
He was arraigned in New Berlin Town Court and was released from Chenango County jail on $500 cash bail.
