Oneonta City School District Principal Scott Rabeler was transferred from his position at Greater Plains Elementary to administrative principal following Wednesday's Board of Education meeting, officials said. The action came after the board’s executive session.
Superintendent Joseph Yelich, who started in his position July 1, said the action was part of an administrative realignment to put the “right principal” in each position, and not the result of anything further. Rabeler, who is making $125,783, will be returned to supervisor of transportation and operations, a position he previously filled. He had been principal at the high school before that.
The action had been in the works for a few months, and waited until the school had a full-time superintendent, Yelich said. He did not know yet whether the position at Greater Plains would be filled from within or the district would seek a replacement from outside. There will be no budget increase required, as other positions will not be filled to allow it to happen, Yelich said, adding that he's hopeful the necessary appointments would be made by the end of July.
