Lone Colchester officer resigns from duty
The town of Colchester is without a police officer, according to a report from WBNG.
The news comes two weeks after the town’s only police officer, Scott Valentine, had his police certification suspended by the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
That move came after it confirmed that some of his required 160 hours of field training was done without an officer present. He was sent to the police academy in Oneonta but was suspended, town supervisor Cindy Donofrio said at Wednesday’s town council meeting. She did not give a cause.
This week, Valentine submitted his resignation, which was accepted unanimously by the town board at its meeting, the report said.
