A bomb threat overheard Tuesday morning by a student at Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School District led to the building being cleared and searched, state police at Richfield Springs said.
No bomb was found and the 18-year-old student was arrested and given youthful offender status. His name was not released because of his age, troopers said.
Troopers were at the building for about half an hour starting at 9:30 a.m.
According to a press release from the school, the administration and law enforcement worked together to clear the building using a trained canine unit. Students remained sheltered on buses during the canine search, and returned to the building after authorities cleared the building.
