Friends of Music will begin its 28th season Saturday at a new location.
The group hosts a series of concerts, mostly chamber music, April through December It had presented performances in the Cyr Center in Stamford for 27 years. Because of the pending sale of the building, which was destroyed by fire last month, the group had moved its concerts to Robinson Terrace Skilled Nursing Facility.
Kicking off the season will be a 3 p.m. concert by Trio +.
For the past 10 years, the members of Trio + have performed together in various combinations across five continents, according to a media release from the Friends of Music. Violinist Yosuke Kawasaki is the Concertmaster of the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Canada, principle guest concertmaster of the Century Orchestra Osaka, as well as a member of Mito Chamber Orchestra and Saito Kinen Orchestra. Pianist Vadim Serebryany is a faculty member at Huntingdon College. Cellist Wolfram Koessel is the cellist of the American String Quartet, a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music and the former Music Director for the Mark Morris Dance Group.
Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the concert. Parking and handicapped-access are available at Robinson Terrace Skilled Nursing Facility at 28652 State Route 23 in Stamford. The suggested donation is $12 per person, and $6 for seniors and students. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.
