Oneonta city police arrested a Delhi man on Wednesday for three counts of felony insurance fraud and theft, according to a Thursday media release.
Robert A. Donaldson, 53, was arrested at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday for third-degree grand larceny, a class E felony; first-degree perjury, a class E felony; and fraudulent insurance practices, a class D felony, the release said. Third-degree grand larceny refers to theft of more than $3,000, police said.
Donaldson allegedly received benefits from the workers compensation board while being employed, police said, and provided false testimony about his wages.
The arrest was a result of a combined investigation by the City of Oneonta Police Department Detective Bureau, New York State Insurance Fund investigators and New York Workers Compensation Board Office of the Fraud Inspector General, according to police.
Donaldson was arraigned in the City of Oneonta Court and sent to the Otsego County Correctional Facility without bail to appear at a later date, the release said. He could face up to four years in prison for each class E felony and up to seven years for the class D felony.
