The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a flash-flood watch for this area, including Chenango, Delaware and Delaware counties, from 2 a.m today through late tonight.
A slow moving cold front was expected to begin passing through the region Thursday evening.
Moderate to heavy rain is expected through tonight, and embedded thunderstorms are also possible, the NWS reported.
Heavy rains bring the possibility of flash flooding, mainly in urban areas and along small streams and creeks, the service said.
A watch means the conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, and that people should monitor the forecasts and be prepared to take action.
