Million-dollar payday for the Beekman Boys?

The latest season of “The Amazing Race” will reach the finish line Sunday night, with the Beekman Boys of Sharon Springs one of four teams competing for the million-dollar first prize.

For the boys, Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge, the race left a lasting impression.

“Dhaka, Bangladesh was the most eye-opening for us,” they said in response to questions emailed to them Friday. “The combination of urban chaos and poverty is nothing like anything we’ve ever seen, either in NYC, upstate or elsewhere. It will forever help us keep our lives in perspective.”

Win or lose, their lives will be taking a major turn in the coming year, with a wedding planned for May or June in Sharon Springs, where they recently participated in the annual Victorian Holiday Celebration by holding a Victorian tea.

“We’re planning on getting married here on the farm,” they said. “There will likely be some sort of public reception as well, because our lives have been so changed by our neighbors in the region. We’d be honored if they (and our fellow Amazing Racers) come to celebrate with us.”

Between all of this, they said they’d be spending a quiet New Year’s Eve.

“We’ll likely stay home, cook ourselves a nice meal, and go to bed early,” they said. “We like to get a jump start on our resolutions.”

The finale of “The Amazing Race” will be broadcast at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS.
