A Westford man was severely burned in a home accident Monday, officials said.
The 55-year-old man, who wasn't identified, was taken for medical treatment by a helicopter, possibly to a hospital in Syracuse, Westford Fire Department Chief Ralph Ritton said at about 9:45 p.m.
At about 6:20 p.m., a neighbor called 911 about a “man on fire” at a home on county Route 34 in Westford, Ritton said. About 15 firefighters and two emergency medical crews responded and provided first aid and determined there wasn't a structural fire, he said.
The Westford department was back in service at about 8 p.m., Ritton said.
Otsego County fire investigators and deputies were at the scene, officials said, and details about the incident are pending investigation.
