---- — The next Delaware County Court judge is one of a few local races that will be determined by absentee ballots, with incumbent Judge Carl Becker leading challenger Gary Rosa by a narrow 8,335-8,160 margin.

Another close race was in the town of Colchester, where Republican Gilbert Close and Democrat Bonnie Seegmiller were nearly tied in a race for a seat on the town council. Unofficial results posted Tuesday night showed Close leading Seegmiller by only one vote.

In the five-way race for Sidney Town Council, a pair of candidates who ran in opposition to Town Supervisor Bob McCarthy won the two open seats easily. Democrats William Heath and Tobias Whitaker netted 914 and 965 votes, respectively.

In Chenango County, Frank Revoir Jr. received nearly double the votes of Diane DiStefano for a seat vacated by W. Howard Sullivan, who retired earlier this year.

In a race for Otsego Town Council, Democrat Thomas Hohensee defeated Republican Paul Russo, 938-749.
