---- — Police: Man’s nose broken in robbery
Two Oneonta men remained in jail Monday in connection with a robbery that left a man with a broken nose, law enforcement authorities said.
Joshua West, 24, and Kyle Macken, 21, were charged at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault, both felonies, police said.
They are accused of robbing a 20-year-old man at knife-point and stealing his cell phone, Lt. Douglas Brenner of the Oneonta Police Department said Monday. The man went to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital for treatment of a broken nose, he said.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday near 195 Main St., Brenner said.
The alleged victim flagged down Officer Jeffrey Gallusser, who was on patrol, and reported that he had been beaten by two men, including one named Josh, Brenner said, and Officer Brian Cetnar and Detective Eric Berger responded to the scene to help.
Police found West on the fifth floor of 195 Main St., which has apartments, Brenner said, and as they were on the way to the police station, Macken walked out of the building.
Detective Joseph Tiemann also assisted at the police station, Brenner said, and the cell phone was recovered.
