---- — Brewery Ommegang and the Cooperstown Rotary Club will partner for this year’s “Waffles and Puppets” event at the brewery, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
The event will feature live shows by The Puppet People from Albany at noon and 2:30 p.m. both days, in addition to magic shows, craft vendors, face-painting, bounce houses, games, a balloon artist, and a book tent where children may select a book to take home. Hot, Belgian-style waffles, other food items, and Ommegang beer will be available for purchase. Brewery Ommegang and the café will be open for tours, tastings and dining service during the event.
Admission is free; a $2 donation is suggested for those ages 12 and older, with activity tickets sold at the gate. Those who bring nonperishable food items to donate to local United Way food banks will receive two free activity tickets. The event is the club’s major annual fundraiser, with proceeds to benefit community programs such as the Cooperstown Food Pantry, the Angel Network, village parks and youth organizations like Scout troops and Girls on the Run.
New to this year’s event is the Rotary eRacer: the Run to Erase Polio. This family-oriented 5K Fun Run/3K Walk will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. Race day registration will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
The registration fee is $25 for children younger than 12, and $40 for adults. Proceeds raised will support Rotary International’s global effort to eradicate polio in addition to support local charities and nonprofits.
