---- —

Hot-air balloons will be joined by live music, antique cars and a “family-fun team challenge” as the Susquehanna Balloon Glow Festival kicks off today in Oneonta’s Neahwa Park.
A collaboration between Five Star Subaru, Mike Ranieri, First Night Oneonta, LEAF and Body by Stacy, this year’s festival will begin at 6 p.m. today, with events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free, with a fee for balloon rides.
Tonight’s events include balloon rides and launches, as well as live fiddle music, a classic car show, and food vendors. Local gym Body by Stacy will present the Family Fun Team Challenge, which will include wheelbarrow races, a potato-sack jumping contest, baseball slams, a “goo” walk, a tug-of-war and more.
Balloon rides will be available, weather permitting, at 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s events, beginning at 6 p.m. in the park, will include more balloon rides and launches, as well as live music by Banshee, Beatles tribute band Sgt. Peppers Phony Hearts Club Band, and Randy Miritello & Friends.
Also taking the stage will be Riverside Theory, a group of young musicians supported by the Terry Doyle Scholarship Fund. The fund was established in memory of Doyle, who died last year. Doyle was a supporter of the local music scene through his Crackle Radio Show on WIOX in Roxbury. Riverside Theory’s performance will start at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday’s “balloon glow,” featuring tethered balloons lit by jets from the inside, will begin at 8 p.m.
