Crouch, Chenango officials to hold gun forum
Assemblyman Clifford Crouch, R-Guilford, joined by Chenango County officials and a gun-rights advocate, will participate Thursday in a forum on the NY SAFE Act.
Crouch, a vocal critic of the law’s firearms provisions, said in a media release that it is important for everyone to know the law’s provisions.
“This is a law that was passed with no public discussion, no public debate, no input from law enforcement or affected parties, was clearly a political move that trumped common sense and infringed on the constitutional rights of law-abiding firearm owners across this state,” he said.
Crouch will be joined at the forum by Sheriff Ernest Cutting, Jr., County Clerk Mary C. Weidman and Steve Aldstadt, president of the state Shooters Committee on Political Education, or SCOPE.
The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Oxford Rod and Gun Club, 214 Ingraham Road in Oxford.
