Cherry Valley men face gun, pot charges

Derek Ward Zigon, 20, and Thomas Douglas Zerrilla, 18, were interviewed May 3 regarding the second stolen handgun. An investigation revealed that they and Yerdon conspired to get rid of the handgun that had the serial number scraped off of it.

A search of the Butler Road swamp was conducted during daylight hours and the loaded stolen handgun was located submerged in mud approximately 25 yard from the shore by Sgt. Raymond Freer.

On May 09, 2013 investigators made the following arrests:

• Yerdon, for third-degree criminal sale of a firearm, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and tampering with physical evidence, all felonies. He was arraigned by Judge Herr and remanded back to Otsego county jail on $5,000 bail returnable on May 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Town of Cherry Valley Court.

• Zigon and Zerrilla were charged with second- and third- degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. They were also arraigned by Judge Herr and released on their own recognizance to appear in Cherry Valley Town Court on May 22.
