A Worcester woman was arrested following a March 20 investigation of a report that a 7-year-old child was missing from her home, Otsego deputies said.
Karen M. Zdan, 43, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and animal cruelty. Deputies said the child was found by the town of Worcester High Department in a wooded area off county Route 39 in Worcester.
The child was taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown and treated for exposure to cold weather and then released to county Child Protective Services, according to deputies. While interviewing Zdan at her home, deputies said, three dogs and two cats that were malnourished were found.
Zdan was arraigned in Westford Town Court and released to appeared in Worcester Town Court at a later date, deputies said.
