Ganesh Ramsaran, accused of murdering his wife, remained in Chenango County jail Sunday in lieu of bail, authorities said.
Ramsaran, 38, of New Berlin was charged Friday with second-degree murder by Chenango County deputies.
Ramsaran, who was arrested at his home, was arraigned before Chenango County Court Judge Frank Revoir Jr., who sent the defendant to jail on $150,000 cash bail, deputies said. Ramsaran is scheduled to appear in the New Berlin Town Court on Thursday.
The body of Ramsaran’s wife, Jennifer, was found Feb. 28 in the town of Pharsalia. The defendant had reported his wife missing Dec. 11, when he told investigators the 36-year-old mother of three children had taken the family minivan to go shopping at a mall near Syracuse.
Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride said he would present the case to a grand jury this week.
