A 47-year-old woman with a previous conviction for embezzling thousands of dollars from an area nursing home has been charged with fleecing her latest employer out of nearly $400,000.
Kelly A. Garreau of Richmondville is facing a charge of second-degree grand larceny after a grand jury accused her of systematically stealing money over the past several years from Country Boy Realty in Cobleskill, where she worked as a bookkeeper.
Garreau is accused of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars over a seven-year period in personal expenses by using the company’s business credit card and seeking to conceal the thefts by falsifying financial records.
After being arraigned in Schoharie County Court this week, she was released after posting $10,000 bond.
In 1998, Garreau was convicted of embezzling some $24,000 from a nursing home where she had also worked as a bookkeeper, officials said.
