A 53-year-old man from Ridgewood, N.J., was killed when his car crashed into a parked tractor-trailer Sunday, Delaware County deputies said.
The 4:30 p.m. accident on state Route 206 happened in a pull-off area just outside the hamlet of Downsville on the Walton side, deputies said.
The driver was declared dead at the scene, deputies said, and an accident reconstruction is being analyzed with results expected today.
The man, who was driving a 2011 Lexus, was going around a curve and his vehicle ran into the rear of the tractor-trailer, Undersheriff Craig DuMond said Sunday night. The driver, whose name was withheld pending notification of kin, drifted off of the roadway for a yet undetermined reason, DuMond said, and blood was drawn to determine if alcohol was a factor.
