Sherburne man arrested in crash
A Sherburne driver involved in three-vehicle accident Monday in North Norwich that sent two people to a hospital has been charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office said.
Richard Webb, 62, also was charged with illegal possession of marijuana, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to keep right, the sheriff’s office said in a media release Tuesday.
According to the release, Webb was driving south on state Route 12 when his vehicle crossed into the left half of the roadway and struck a vehicle occupied by Larry and Eleanor Hall of Smryna head on.
Gina Acee of Sherburne, who was behind the Halls’ vehicle, was unable to stop and struck it in the rear, the release said.
The Halls were transported to Chenango Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said. Webb and Acee were not injured in the crash.
