---- — An Oneonta High School graduate found deceased in a car Saturday died of pulmonary edema, officials in Albany County said Monday.

Jared Trotti, 18, was declared dead after being found in a car parked in a lot on the Albany University campus at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday, University Police said. Trotti, who had just completed his freshman year at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, had gone to Albany University on Friday to visit friends.

Foul play and suicide were ruled out, according to police who withheld identities of friends and other details pending conclusion of the investigation.

Aran Mull, inspector with University Police at the Albany campus, said the official cause of death has been noted as pulmonary edema. A toxicology report is pending.

The Albany County medical examiner on Monday indicated the report may be expected in 60 days, Mull said in an email, and that office has no official position until the report is released.

Trotti, a 2012 graduate of Oneonta High School, was the son of Bryan C. Trotti, who has worked in the restaurant and construction fields, and Lisa Onorato, a professor at Hartwick College and chair of its psychology department.

“Jared Trotti’s death is a tragic loss and our hearts are with his family,” said Hartwick College President Margaret L. Drugovich, said in a prepared statement. “Hartwick is a community, and as such we care deeply about the joys and sorrows faced by our employees. We will do all that we are able to support Jared’s mother during this time of profound sadness.”

At Elizabethtown College, which is near Harrisburg, the administration was arranging for a bus to Oneonta for students interested in attending Trotti’s funeral service, a Facebook posting said.

Trotti was a business major at the private liberal arts college, which enrolls about 1,900 students.

Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, with the funeral service at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St. in Oneonta, and the Rev. Teressa Sivers, pastor, officiating, according to an obituary. Trotti was a member of the church’s youth group.
