---- — COOPERSTOWN — Birdwatchers will be bonding over brunch and beer on June 2 at Brewery Ommegang.
The Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society will host “Birds, Brunch, and Beer” that day, with the lineup of events opening at 9 a.m. with a guided bird walk that is open to the public and free of charge.
At 11 a.m., those purchasing tickets costing $30 will receive a Belgian-style brunch followed by a presentation by Audubon New York Director of Science and Conservation Mike Burger.
The local Audobon chapter will host bird-related workshops in the afternoon. Workshops are limited to 15 guests each, and the topics include botanical painting, photographing birds, bird works, and birding by ear.
There will also be a silent auction and raffle of nature-related art donated from various local artists, including a hand-carved Great Blue Heron from carver Jonathan Dowdall.
Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will fund environmental, educational, and outreach programs through Delaware Otsego Audobon Society. Tickets are available now by calling Eleanor Moriarty at 435-2054. The registration form will also be available online at the society’s web site, www.doas.us.
