Don't get spooked -- parties and events abound this Halloween



The Echo Lake Campground will host “Echoween,” a costume party, at 5 p.m. Saturday for ages 18 and older. The party will feature an open mike from 6 to 9 p.m., with music and karaoke from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The campground is at 185 Echo Lake Lane.


A Halloween party for preschoolers will be offered at The Farmers’ Museum from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Empire State Carousel. The party will include refreshments, pumpkin decorating (bring your own pumpkin) and rides on the carousel. Standard museum admission will be charged. For more information, visit


The 1892 Earlville Opera House will host the Haunted Opera House on Saturday at 18 E. Main St. in Earlville. The haunting will run from 7 to 9 p.m., and admission will be free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The theme will be “The Vampires’ charming home.” According to a media release from EOH, the event may not be suitable for young children. The Butternut Valley Grange will host its annual Halloween party at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Grange Hall at 7 Bloom St. The event will include a costume contest for all ages, with prizes; refreshments, and magic and entertainment. The event is open to Grange members and Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District residents.


Grand Gorge Community Action Group will have its annual Halloween Party from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Gorge Civic Center. There will be costume contests and prizes, hayrides, crafts, doughnuts, treats, face painting and more.


The Meridale Fire Department will host a Halloween party from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the firehouse at the corner of state Highway 28 and county Route 10 in Meridale.
