Police: Pair of robberies may have been related

A masked man robbed the Mirabito Convenience Store No. 19 in Davenport early Monday morning, according to state police at Oneonta, who said a case in Stamford on Saturday night was similar.

There were no injuries reported during these two criminal incidents, troopers said in a media release.

Troopers said at about 6:30 a.m. Monday, an unknown male entered the Mirabito store at 15863 State Route 23 in Davenport, displayed a large kitchen-type knife and demanded money from the cash register.

The suspect, who was wearing a black jacket, jeans and a blue knit hat with eye and mouth holes, left the store through the front entrance and fled on foot, troopers said in the release.

At about 10 p.m. Saturday, an unknown male entered the Stamford Country Store at 2 Harper St. in Stamford, displayed a large kitchen-type of knife and demanded money from the cash register, troopers said.

The suspect was wearing a green or black jacket, work-style pants with zippers at the bottom, gray gloves and a blue knit hat with eye and mouth holes, the release said. The suspect exited through the front entrance and fled on foot.

“The crimes are very similar in nature and the possibility they were committed by the same person is under investigation,” according to the release.

Oneonta troopers ask anyone with information about the crimes to call the local station at 432-3211.
