Constituents will have an opportunity to meet and question Middletown Democratic candidates this week. The Middletown Democratic Committee will be sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates” event at 7 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Hall on Main Street in Margaretville. The event is open to the public.
The MDC quickly organized the event after learning that a public debate and forum for all candidates scheduled for the same night at the Margaretville Central School fell through.
“It’s short notice, but we are happy to do this,” MDC Chair Lisa Tait said in a media release. “Our committee mission is to provide Middletown voters a good choice when they go to the polls on Nov. 5. For local races particularly, that includes making sure constituents have an opportunity to know who our candidates are.”
Running for re-election this year on the ballot’s Democratic line are Supervisor Marjorie Miller and Council Member Mike Finberg. Also appearing on the ballot’s Democratic line will be first time candidates John Fairbairn III for Town Justice and David Goodchild for Assessor.
