---- — A woman has been arrested on charges of illegal possession of Oxycodone, a narcotic pain killer, Otsego County deputies said Tuesday.
Mylea Beth Buffo, 26, of Cobleskill in Schoharie County, was charged Monday with seven felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, deputies said in a media release.
Buffo, who recently returned to the area from Montana, was arrested as the result of a joint investigation between the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement office in Syracuse.
Last August, a pharmacist contacted the deputies and state DOH officials to report a suspicious telephonic prescription, the release said, and an investigation revealed that Buffo picked up seven fraudulent Oxycodone prescriptions at the pharmacy in the town of Oneonta in July 2012.
Buffo was arraigned in Otsego Town Court before Judge Gary M. Kuch and sent to the Otsego County jail on $10,000 bail, which authorities said she posted Tuesday. If convicted, Buffo faces up to five years in prison on each count, deputies said.
