Megan Lawrence's second varsity no-hitter _ and first this season _ included 15 strikeouts as she led Edmeston to a 9-1 Tri-Valley League softball victory over visiting Franklin on Thursday.
"She has three pitches and mixed all of them very well today," Edmeston coach Brian Burgess said. "She basically kept the Franklin hitters off stride all day. She has a lively fastball but also has command of her change-up and curveball."
Lawrence (9-2) threw a no-hitter last season as a spot starter behind four-year standout Kati Dennis, who graduated in June.
"I'm impressed because she's only a sophomore," Burgess said. "She's pitched well all year."
Franklin took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Chelsea Lewis led off with a walk, went to second a groundout by Jessica Terrano, took third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch.
Edmeston answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning, scored another in the second and extended its lead to 6-1 in the third. Stefanie Cornnell's two-run single highlighted Edmeston's three-run third.
Lawrence had two hits, including a triple, and Emily Slentz went 4-for-4 with two RBIs for the Panthers (9-3, 7-1), who play at Laurens on Monday.
