Players ages 16-18 who live or attend school in the Oneonta City School District are eligible to register from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays at the recreation office in Neahwa Park. Birth certificates and completed registration forms are required at the time of registration. MLB competition to run Saturday The Springfield Center Community Center will host a free Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run Competition for area youths from 3-5 p.m. Saturday. There is no cost to participate in the event, which will be divided into the following age-groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. All-around champions and winners of each category (pitching, hitting and running) in each age-group will advance to sectional competition. MLB stadiums will host the team championships at a later date. The national finals will take place during the All-Star Game. Sport Tech to host bicycle events Sport Tech in Oneonta will host bicycle rides for fun and fitness at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and May 24 and 31. Golf tourney set for Saturday Colonial Ridge Golf Course in Laurens will host a captain-and-crew tournament to benefit the Otego Rod and Gun Club on Saturday. Fisk to appear at Cooperstown Classic National Baseball Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk will attend the Cooperstown Classic, a Triple-A baseball game between the Syracuse Chiefs and the Rochester Red Wings, on May 18 at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Fisk played his final minor league season in 1971 with the IL's Louisville Colonels. He will throw out the first pitch and will attend the 6-8 p.m. postgame reception at the Baseball Hall. The event will feature 10- and 5-kilometer races that will run simultaneously for the second straight year. The top three finishers in each race will win cash awards.
