Jefferson clinched its first Delaware League Mountain Division softball title since at least the early 1990s, winning, 15-4, at Davenport on Monday.
Jefferson (12-2, 9-1) hasn't been in a Delaware League final since the league began playing crossover championships in 1994.
"It's been awhile," J-Hawks coach Andi Cammer said, when asked the last time Jefferson won a division championship. "It goes back to the mid-1990s, but I'm not exactly sure when.
"We've been building up to it," she continued. "We picked up some good talent this year with our pitching (winning pitcher Jordyn Hillis and back-up Inge Jacobson). They worked really hard last year and over the summer."
Hillis struck out eight in a four-hitter.
Vanessa Speenburg went 4-for-4 with five RBIs, including a homer in the fourth inning, when Jefferson took a 3-0 lead. She also had a two-run single during Jefferson's 10-run sixth inning.
Katie Clayton went 2-for-2 for the J-Hawks, who play at Cherry Valley-Springfield today. Jefferson will play in the crossover final a week from Thursday at Oneonta State against the Upper Division champion.
Miranda Zimmerman hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Davenport, which finished the season at 5-6.

Alecia Clark hit an RBI triple during Sidney's two-run fifth inning that gave the Warriors a 3-0 lead.
Blake Shelton broke up Gravel's no-hit bid on a single with two out in the fourth.

Leading, 4-3, heading into the bottom of the sixth, host Bainbridge-Guilford scored 16 runs to win in the Center State Conference.
Cassie Anderson's three-run homer down the left-field line capped the inning. She also doubled in the inning and Chelsi Rosa had two hits in the inning as well.
"I don't know what happened, but I wish it happened a month ago," B-G coach Cindy Cifone said of her team's big inning. "They caught up with the pitcher (Ashley Farwell) and finally started hitting her."
Carrie Safford went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Bobcats.
Ashley Lamont, a junior varsity call-up, struck out five in a five-hitter for B-G.

After visiting Mount Markham tied the score with two runs in the top of the seventh, winning pitcher Anna Sams hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to give Cooperstown the Center State Conference victory.
Jen Wehner (two hits) singled to lead off Cooperstown's seventh and stole second. Sams followed with a single to center and Wehner scored easily.
Sams had seven strikeouts and two walks in an eight-hitter.
Sawyer Graham had an RBI triple during the Redskins' two-run first inning.
Cooperstown (9-7, 5-3) plays at Canastota today.

Emma Stratigos hit two-run single with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to snap a 10-all tie and give host Stamford its first victory of the season.
Stratigos finished 3-for-4 for the Indians (1-10, 1-8 Delaware League). Rosie Beck contributed two hits, including a two-run home run in the first inning.
"We've been putting it together the last three or four games and finally we strung some hits together and finally got a win," Stamford coach Ken Utter said. "It was a big win. The girls have been working hard for this."
Catherine Romito went 4-for-5 with two RBIs for the Wildcats, who also received three hits from Kristen Davis.
Stamford visits Windham today.

The game was played in Downsville, but the Eagles played as the visiting team as Windham is without a field because of a school building project.

Jennifer Seiferth went 3-for-5, including a triple and five RBIs, to lead the Eagles (13-1, 7-1), who visit Gilbertsville-Mount Upton today.
