Eric Scorzafava's two-run single in the top of the seventh inning highlighted a three-run rally by Oneonta High in its 3-1 Southern Tier Athletic Conference baseball victory at Norwich on Wednesday.
Matt Marcewicz opened the Yellowjackets' seventh with a single. Winning pitcher Jack Benjamin then doubled to left-center, moving Marcewicz to third. Scorzafava followed an opposite-field single to right that scored both runners for a 2-1 OHS lead.
Scorzafava scored the Jackets' third run on a wild pitch.
Benjamin (4-2) struck out 10 and walked none in a four-hitter.
"He probably pitched his strongest game of the year," OHS coach Joe Hughes said of Benjamin. "He had a good, lively fastball and a good curveball, and could throw either for a strike at any time. Jack and our defense kept us in the ballgame and gave us a chance to win."
Scorzafava and Tyler Dilello had two hits apiece for OHS (14-3, 11-2), which will finish in second place in the STAC's Central Division, behind Chenango Valley. OHS hosts Delhi today.
