Oneonta falls in final
Keene (N.H.) hitters produced 16 hits to beat Oneonta Post 259, 11-3, Sunday in the final of the Moscow Double Cats Wood Bat Classic in Scranton, Pa.
Keene, paced by Dave Roeder's double and Pat Ferguson's triple, scored four times in each of the fourth and sixth innings.
Lane Potter and Devlin Vanderhoof both had a double and two hits for the Green Wave.
Oneonta (18-10) advanced to the final with a 1-0 victory over Ottawa. Jeff Wiltsie (5-1) threw his second shutout of the season, allowing four hits. Ryan Lynch's RBI single in the second inning scored Jon Wolfanger with the winning run. Lynch and Matt Marcewicz had two hits apiece.
The Green Wave split two tournament games Saturday, losing, 4-3, to Keene before beating Nanticoke, Pa., 2-1, in eight innings.
Keene rallied from a 3-1 deficit, scoring twice in the fifth inning and once in the sixth. Marcewicz went 2-for-4, including an RBI single in the third inning that made it 3-1.
Against Nanticoke, Jack Benjamin struck out seven and walked two in an eight-hitter, and Lane Potter hit an RBI double in the eighth inning that scored Larry Jankowski with the winning run.
